Far-Away Flowers

It is very cold here, and over the course of the week it is only supposed to get colder. I wish we had a bit more snow to at least insulate the things sprouting in the garden, especially since the winter so far has been so mild and many plants are consequently not as dormant as they should be. Meanwhile, my mom sent another picture taken while walking the dog in our German hometown of Gernsbach:

Cyclamen coum galore!

I wonder if Cyclamen coum would do ok here... The fall-flowering Cyclamen hederifolium appears to do well and is by far the most commonly available hardy cyclamen, although it is not used nearly as much as one would hope. This year I really should plant some in our yard.
