Happy Nowruz!

Today marks the vernal equinox and beginning of spring, and with that Nowruz, the Persian New Year celebrated in Iran and many other countries in Western, Central, and South Asia. While I did not manage a Haft-Sīn, here are at least some nice heirloom sunbul or hyacinths from my garden last year:

Hyacinthus orientalis 'Chestnut Flower'

Hyacinthus orientalis 'Madame Sophie'

Hyacinthus orientalis 'General Köhler'

نوروز پیروز و سال نوتان مبارک

  1. The Hyacinthus look good. I have a couple but it will be weeks before they show. JC

    1. Here in Boston the first are blooming now, but on the whole the timing of all the spring bloomers is a bit messed up because we have had this fairly destructive back-and-forth of very mild and extremely cold temperatures for much of the winter.
